Imagine mixing a Gurkhali kukri with a modern mercenary machete, and you get this tactical nightmare. Nightmare in a good way. This full tang blade starts with a quarter-inch thick piece of 5Cr15Mov steel, the same metal that butcher knives are made out of. This allows it to have the fine edge turned back into razor sharp with a few strokes on the whetstone. Ideal for the machete that is going to blaze its way through unchartered territory. The iconic forward bending blade shape makes this kukri knife catch and slice more foliage instead of merely pushing it out of the way. With a wide belly positioned at the top end, the weight of the steel helps to swing in a curved motion. Add a lethally pointed tip, and you’ve got a serious tactical weapon in your hands.

The cutting parts continue with the sawback teeth positioned along the top edge of the spine. These spikes do not have a defined cutting edge, as they are used instead for sawing through whatever branch looked at you funny. And there are many. Below the sawback along the wide belly are drilled vent holes, reducing the overall weight of this already 1 pound 6.5-ounce modern  knife. Also to reduce weight is the fuller running along by the spine, a feature also called a ‘blood groove’. The fuller runs on one side, but that won’t matter when you are busy using this foot-long blade to become the next generation daisy cutter.

To grip this nearly unstoppable kukri weapon is a rubberized ABS handle. This thermoplastic material wraps the steel with black at first, and then a bit of gray which has a textured pattern etched along the palm portion. The handle is contoured for your fingers and has deep grooves for thumb leverage when you using that pointed tip for a more delicate cut. This handle’s job is to keep this tactical knife in your hands, and the lanyard loop on the pommel can help, at least, keep this khukri near your body. Fix some paracord around the loop and string it on your wrist, or use that metal protrusion to break ice or the silence during a deep jungle interrogation.

When you’ve set up camp and want to use your binoculars to check out some birds, slip this fixed blade knife into the real leather sheath and lock on to those eagles. The sheath is a tanned hide with hand stitching around the sides, and also comes with a loop for securing this 18.5-inch jungle machete to your belt. Snap the cover and leave it for the next cutting task, which could happen faster than you think in an unknown environment.
